“NWDS #2 – Las Vegas” Now Affiliated with PDC North America; Joins North American Pro Tour DAYTON, Ohio: New World Dart Series LLC, the organizing force behind the professional steel-tip dart tournament series with the same name, announced today that it will hold its next major tournament April 5-7, 2013 at Tuscany Suites and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This announcement follows on the heels of a very successful inaugural event held in Dayton in October, 2012 and will be the first of two NWDS events in the United States in 2013. “We’re tremendously excited with the support we received in Dayton,” says Sharon Butler, Registration Coordinator for the NWDS and a founding member of the company, “as soon as that event was over, people started asking about the next one and it was a no-brainer that we needed to start planning immediately!” In October of this year Anthony Eugenia, founder of the DPNY a hugely successful tournament series on the East Coast upped his involvement of the NWDS organization and became a shareholder of the company. Shortly thereafter long time dart promoter and television producer L. David Irete also joined the organization as a shareholder. The vested involvement of Mr. Eugenia and Mr. Irete strengthen the team exponentially. Anthony's extensive experience in organizing and running events along with Davids expertise in television production, directions and his time behind a camera combine to form a very well rounded team that will help bring the New World Dart Series tour to the forefront of professional darting events. The organization hopes that the Las Vegas tournament continues the recent surge in interest in professional steel- tip darts across North America and there are big plans in the works to continue to offer incentives for performance (anyone throwing a perfect 9-dart game of 501 in the main event would have driven away with a new car in Dayton). Tournament Director and now partner, Anthony Eugenia, alludes to the plans to make this event special: “Although we can’t yet release specifics, let’s say the NWDS will likely continue Las Vegas’ well-known tradition of ‘going big.’ With the right amount of skill and a little bit of luck, one of our players may be leaving sin city a few pounds heavier than when they arrived.”
The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) had their eye on the inaugural event in Dayton and shortly after it's conclusion the series was invited to become part of the North American PDC tour, adding a whole new level of player appeal for NWDS #2 - Las Vegas. The fact that the tournament will be affiliated with the Professional Darts Corporation North America’s (PDCNA) North American Pro Tour (NAPT) means all money earned by players in the men’s main event on Sunday will count towards the North American Order of Merit (NAOoM) maintained by the PDCNA. NWDS #2 – Las Vegas will be the first of 7 stops on the 2013 Pro Tour, and will offer the largest prize fund announced to-date. “I’m very pleased to welcome the New World Dart Series to the North American Pro Tour,” said Jay Tomlinson, Director of the PDCNA and President of Ely, Minnesota-based Bulls’ Eye Marketing, “maintaining this close relationship will give North American professional dart players more opportunities to play longer-format events and earn more money. Sharon, Anthony David and I are confident that events like this will lead directly to North American success in the PDC World Championship.” Tomlinson is alluding to the fact that the leader on the NAOoM after the final 2013 NAPT event in Sacramento in November will receive an automatic entry into the Ladbrokes World Championship, held at the Alexandria Palace in London. Additionally, both BMI and NWDS management foresee a North American Championship Event in the future. They believe that the new long format and high dollar payouts will draw all the best players in North America out to compete and vie for the title of the North American Darts Champion.
